Sick — again

Wednesday, December 7th, 2011

I’ve been sick again, for the last week and a half. I had a cold, but it developed into an upper respiratory infection. I haven’t even been commuting by bicycle, while I’m sick. I have done so in the past and I basically decided it’s not worth it. It’s just not enjoyable, and I end up thinking, “Why am I doing this?” So I’m not doing that. The timing couldn’t have been worse — last week was my busiest week of the entire semester, and I was sick the whole time. Ugh.

For now, I’m getting to/from/around campus by bus, walking, and rides from my wife. It’s times like this when I’m glad I have some alternatives to riding.

Next week is finals, and then I have a few weeks off before winter semester begins. I’m looking forward to a break, and I hope I’ll be well enough to do some riding by then. I am thinking that I would really like to do some wandering rides — take my time and just enjoy myself, nothing too intense. It sounds relaxing.

Being sick is no fun. Get better.

I have had a similar illness for over a week now. I haven’t had the desire to ride either. I have set up my winter commuter though and hope to get the studs on just in squeak of time for the snow.

I sold my car intentionally and I too find myself grabbing rides and using the bus. Live it up man. It’s good, clean fun!

    Get well

The gunk has been with me for 3 weeks now, although no infection.

Good luck. Get well. Love to ride with you over the break.

Same situation but different outcome. “If I’m too sick to ride to work, I’m too sick to GO to work.”

    Hope you feel better soon!
    Take care.
    Paz 🙂

PS. I might be in your neck of the woods around Christmas!

Hope you feel better soon, and good luck with your finals.

If you and Sarah get up to the Fort for the holidays, please give me a call.

Sorry to hear you’re still sick 🙁 It’s been an awful winter for it so far!

A guy I know who races for the Mothership (you might see him at the Little 500) once blessed me out for riding while sick, so I think you’re doing the right thing taking a break — especially since you’ll need that energy for finals!

Once they’re over, I hope the break will bring you lots of rest and recuperation — and, of course, egg nog.

Assuming you like egg nog, of course 🙂

    Get well soon.

It seems to be going around. My oldest son commented last night, “I’m sick of being sick.” Get some rest, and get well.

Take care of yourself and get well. The bike will still be there, later.

I’ve had a tough time taking that advice, in the past, but this year taught me my lesson on that.

Happy Christmas. (Give Rob a kiss and pet Sarah, for me…no, wait. Strike that, reverse it, and proceed.)

It sounds like you need to relax in more ways than one. I hope you get a chance very soon.

Stay in bed till your better. It is the quickest remedy.
