Hi. I have a blog at www.picturecamping.com where I feature people's posts about camping, and I would like to send my readers your way. Of course I would give you credit for quotes and would link back to your site.

Thanks for considering this,

You are quite right about turning off the lights in order to see. Way back in the day, when I was still working in a bike shop and keeping retail hours (rather than getting up at 4:45 AM, as I do now), my friends and I did a lot of nighttime mountain biking.

On most of our rides, we would forego the use of lights on climbs, in order to preserve battery life. These were the days before LED emitters in bike lights: NiCad batteries and Halogen bulbs were high tech!

Anyway, on moonlit nights, we often rode entire trails by ambient light. Speeds were low, but the added viewable distance made for some gorgeous cliff-top views.

I still like to ride the Slickrock Trail, out in Moab, by the light of a full moon, whenever possible.

A night Hike. That sounds like fun! I have not done that, but will make a point of doing it as soon as I can. Great pictures. Sounds like your camping adventure was a success. Some good tips about things to take camping are at http://www.sightseeingreview.com/campingchecklist.php
