Spectacular in all capacities, even the things "bumping in the night" around the tent site. I really like the fern-strewn path leading to the tent site. And as for the trail, it looks delightful.

There is an effort- I don't know how much success they're having- to get a 100mile+ rails-to-trail built between Lexington and Ashland KY. Your trip is the perfect example of how beneficial these trails can be. People travel from afar to experience what the area has to offer.

Looking forward to Part II, and I'm going to re-read Part I.

Great story. Great photos. Every time I start to feel smug about my usual riding area, you post something like this, and make me want to travel...to where ever you just visited.

Looking forward to Part II.

Hey, that's a great suggestion. I'll have to pick up some ear plugs before my next camping trip. Thanks!

Wow, that looks like a fantastic river gorge.

I routinely wear earplugs when camping. I am used to a very quiet house. When I'm out in the woods, I tend to be awaken by every little sound. The earplugs take care of that. As long as I have the plugs, I sleep better in the woods than anywhere else.

I've found I prefer my LHT when it's fully loaded. Of the 3100 miles I've logged on my LHT since purchasing last year, 850 of those miles were during loaded camping trips. It's an amazing ride when carrying a load.
