Photographs from this weekend

Thursday, December 7th, 2006

I finally got a chance to post my photos from this weekend on flickr. It took me forever to do so because I took over 650 photos, all in .NEF (RAW) format. I sorted through them a little bit at a time and did RAW processing on the good ones.

I had been using ACDSee for a lot of that kind of stuff, but it leaves a black line on the right side of each image, and I can’t figure out why. I’m trying demos of some other products — so far, Bibble seems to be the best. The biggest shortcoming I’ve found is that it doesn’t do slideshows, but I can do that with other software. Its RAW processing workflow is pretty good, which is probably the most important thing to me, aside from image quality, which is great. Bibble is also cross-platform, even offering a Linux version. Pretty sweet.

I’m pretty damn pleased with my new lens; the bokeh is not as smooth as it could be, perhaps, but it’s a cheap lens, so what can you expect? It’s better in that respect than the lens that came with my camera.

Anyway, I’m not going to go into detail about these photos now, but you should check out my Flickr page, especially these sets:

You have simply got to see this:
